RHSC LABOR DAY CRUISE to Rhode River is coming up this weekend. Let's have a brief skipper's meeting at 9:00 a.m. Saturday in the Library. ... Below, in the words of GamesCaptains, Cathy and Mike Moorehead, is a "trailer" for Saturday Afternoon's Special Event that will make this weekend the one you'll still be talking about next year! Cruise Captain Mary Jo cruisecaptain@rockhallsailingclub.org What is the Annapolis Discovery Challenge (ADC) portion of the RHSC Annapolis Cruise? It’s a treasure/scavenger hunt of sorts. Designed to entertain, familiarize and hydrate the participants. It will take place on the afternoon/evening of Saturday, August 21 beginning at a central meeting place which is to be announced and where the first set of clues/directions will be distributed. At subsequent meeting places additional instructions will be distributed to the teams. Ultimately we will all arrive at the final destination where winners will be announced and those who wish may order dinner. Who has organized this event? Cathy and Mike Moorehead from s/v Rhythm have designed the competition. With assurances to all Intrepid Sailors the Moorehead’s say that the event is designed for fun. Leave your inhibitions aboard, be ready for frivolity and don’t take yourself too seriously. Smile a little…Smile a lot… Laugh out loud! Is there any special preparation for this event? Competitors will find it useful to form teams of 4 to 6 (or more) members. Teams MAY find it useful to bring along such items as; mobile phone, digital camera, handheld GPS, handheld VHF, calculator, pencil and paper, tape measure, string, scissors, kryptonite, a jet-pack, a Danforth anchor, a map of Annapolis, a map of Indianapolis, and a map of the Acropolis. For certain each team should have at the least a digital camera or camera phone. How will the event be scored? Points are awarded for each task completed, question answered, or item found. The team scoring the most points will be declared the winner. DECISIONS OF THE JUDGES IS FINAL. No protests will be heard. Bribes may be accepted but not necessarily honored. There has been some question of what kinds of questions one might encounter so I’m providing you with samples that WILL NOT be part of the actual event. 1. If you add the slip number of Jordis and the slip number of Rhythm, then subtract the slip number of Felicidad… What’s the sum? 2. In what year was Rock Hall founded? 3. How many deck chairs are there on the Sunset Dock? 4. All Intrepid Sailors know where the brick Compass Rose is located at The Sailing Emporium. Tell me, at The Sailing Emporium where would you find the brick sailboat? Where would you find the brick walkway that flexes? 5. Three bonus points for the team that records themselves singing Mustang Sally or Brown Eyed Girl. 6. One bonus point for each team member that is pictured in a group photo making a “Bitter Beer Face.”... WE WILL CRUISE TO A NEARBY DESTINATION (TO BE DETERMINED) SUNDAY MORNING (7/4/10). OUR DESTINATION DEPENDS ON THE WIND. WE PLAN TO RAFT UP AND SHARE FOOD AND BEVERAGES SUNDAY EVENING AND RETURN TO PORT ON MONDAY. BRING THE KIDS AND GRANDKIDS TO ENJOY SWIMMING, PADDLING DINGHIES, AND VIEWING MORE FIREWORKS FROM OUR ANCHORAGE. cruisecaptain@rockhallsailingclub.org Mary Jo Cruise Captain CIRCE 215.760.4641... We went our various ways for Friday afternoon and evening diversions. Speaking for CHARDONNAY and CIRCE crews, we had a spectacular happy hour, dinner, and evening of piano bar entertainment at Della Note. Others visited various pubs and restaurants in Fells Point and Little Italy, while some members chilled out in air conditioned comfort aboard their boats at dock.... Three Day Baltimore Extravaganza
